Skin

Your child’s skin health depends on a number of key factors.  First, is the health of the digestive tract.  Your body and your child’s body has 4 routes to remove “debris”.  Debris can consist of metabolic breakdown products, unfriendly microbes and toxins.  The digestive tract is the most imporant factor to consider in a child with chronic skin issues like cradle cap, eczema, hives and psoriasis.  The balance of the good bacteria or probiotics in the digestive tract can be used to very successfully treat skin issues.

The 4 routes out of the body are called emunctories and include:

  1. digestive tract
  2. lungs
  3. kidneys
  4. skin

If the first 3 routes out of the body are impaired or are not working optimally, the skin will take over as a detoxification route.  It is a re-routing of harmful substances in an effort to protect cells.  So, when we look at healing the skin it is important to assess how healthy the bowel, lungs and kidneys are and how well they are removing debris.
